Cop Whose A Man Video

What the?

I decided to do a video for that last song. I dunno why.

Cop Whose A Man

Hey guys. Remember when I did tiny little songs and put them up here? Well, I have a few laying around. Waitin'. So here's one.

Yeah, I know it's not grammatically correct.

DreamCamEra - Whirlwinds & Wolves

So recently I was semi-involved in a project. I mean, I did some readings. These were complied with other readings and merged with various soundscapes. The whole is quite good. I get the same sort of loneliness vibe that permeates most of my thought-out projects.

It is called Whirldwinds & Wolves, by a lovely fella who makes multimedia website creepiness under the name DreamCamEra. I highly recommend checking out his site in general. If you are the sort of person who reads this blog, then you will be the sort of person who won't be disappointed

Scott J. Gailey - Baidarka

I got a letter from this fella on Soundcloud, but I didn't know how to write him back. So instead of that I listened to his tracks, and checked out his bandcamp. Guess what? It's some pretty cool stuff. I'd go give it a look, if I were you.

I'll include here his album, which is described thus:
"a prospective soundtrack to the nonexistent film "Baidarka", set in western Alaska during the early 19th century and stretching until the American purchase. Inspiration drawn from Dr. Aurel Krause's geographical surveys. Recorded in Gabe and Lucas' houses on Itsequal , winter 2012. "

Gwen Burton - Haunted House / Hand Workout

This is an artist I've recently rediscovered. I used to love her videos/jams/pictures back in the days of myspace. Remember myspace? Actually, I wasn't active in it until after it had died as a medium. Because that is when things are most interesting.

Gwen's videos are pretty great. You can see more on her Youtube channel.

Thruways Show

One time I played this show. And showed this movie. Both of which were things I had made in college, I mean university. It's a university now. Got to get that street cred in.
It was my first show, and I am a pretty shy guy, so I just got under a blanket and played. Haw haw.

You Are The Last Starfighter

You ever have one of those days where you feel like this? Like you just gotta fight them stars. Like you just gotta succeed or the future of the galaxy is going right down the space toilet.

Yeah, me too.

Hintergrund - Nemesis

Got a funnily formal email today, from a fella in a band called Hintergrund. They are a dup from Columbus, Ohio. Pretty swell droney, fuzzy stuff. It's like your ears are petting a sleepy kitten, but that kitten is made out of the aurora borealis. Auralra borealis?

He also happens to review music on a blog that I think I'm gonna get into. Got some reviews up from some of my Edmonton buddies, Pidgeon Breeders, Taiwan and Congregations. So check that out.

Hot Mouthing

I just want to find free garageband loops that install when you drop and drag. It is a real pain in the butt. It's also real hard to find ones that aren't shitty and dumb. Lots of awful samples out there. But, I figured out how to just add my own loops, so whatever.

Neacail Campbell - Winter March of the Manglers

Neacail brings us a wintery Christmas Elfman tune from the depths of Satan's Slave Mines.

Max Uhlich - Pure Morning

Got a new song in my inbox. Pretty cool stuff. By the wonderful Max Uhlich. Seriously, somebody give this guy's cheek a pinch already!

Or just download his song. Whatever.

Do you guys ever go on Vimeo? Me either. Except one time I did.

Jelly Fashion Motion

Chill wave bullshit? Don't know. Not sure what that even means. But this is some shit right here. Some awesome ethreal shit. I hope you are ready to "do" some "e" and just feel the vibes, man. The good vibes.

A pink, fuchsia sea of good vibes, bro.

Heart Stab Heart Sad

Do you get sad, wah wah? Probably. I keep doing these simple guitar tracks, to try and put them on a new album, but I end up thinking they are overdone. Too many tracks in one. Not enough atmosphere. Whatever.

It's not like I can play guitar anyhow.

дурак - Spice Girls

I got an email today.
"Hey, so this really is no good but you asked for it. A long time ago I took a spice girls tape i had, took it apart and did my best to ruin it and make it sound as bad as possible before putting it back together again. So it's just some bad quality spice girls. It's garbage so if you just delete it I wont mind."

So here's that.

Jiménez - Spektre

And just in case you thought I didn't care... I do care.

Rat Fries

I have been working with Ableton and a large sample package I found on the internet. It is sort of neat stuff, though I think I have now worked with it too long. Just like with everything, once you learn how to do it then you just do simple things because you are no longer experimenting, you are just doing what works. It is too bad. I hope to release an album of stuff from it soonish. Hopefully it doesn't sound too samey. I might have to forget it and come back.

Here is one sample song, that won't be on the album, but will show you sort of almost how it is like. Kind of.
I mean, to a degree.

D'oh! Forgot about the blog again. Way to go. What a time. To be fair, summer lovin', havin' a blast. I know, excuses excuses.

Here, have a song.

Wai I Don't Know I Don't Know I Don't Know

Okay, second off, hey what's up? How are you? I am alright, thanks for asking.
Did you know I actually have a bunch of songs for this site sitting around, I just haven't uploaded them. I know, right? What a dink. Like, sorry, man.

I guess I just wasn't sure if you were interested.

The Thing - Better Living

Okay, first off... wow, what's going on? I don't even know.
Here's a song I listened to. It's pretty cool. Check out the only comment on it. Ah ha ha ha! I hope one of my songs gets a single comment like that one day. Classic. So classic.

Summertime, I think. I don't go out much. But, hey, it is the perfect time for a BBQ. I will do that. I will BBQ some things.

Fish, maybe.

The Last Exorcism Theme

Okay, what I'm going to share with you today is not by me or anybody I know. It's the theme music from the movie The Last Exorcism. Say what you will about the flick (I personally enjoyed it) but this music is downright awesome.

Takes Too Long

Sometimes you wait and wait for it to happen.

Sometimes it takes too long.

Blue In Green

I had used a warped version of Miles Davis' Blue In Green as a backing track for a live set. Then I decided to do a collab with a fine friend. I figured we could just start from that, so we did. We sent it back and forth, and there are a bunch of different versions, but I think this ended up being the final one. It was planned to be released on a tape with another friend on the other side, but then... well... That was quite some time ago.

So now I just put it on the internet.

The Time He Did It

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Where you going? May's not over yet, come on. Come on, listen to another song. You want to do it, I can see it inside of your eyeballs.
Sometimes I do these things on guitar. Just little riffs. And then I try to put a beat over top of them, except I don't play with a metronome or anything, so it never has a steady time, so I have to make a beat and manually place it down every time and adjust it to try and keep it sounding sort of on time. I guess doing it the other way is easier?

Whatever. Who gives a shit?

Regal Fucks

Whoa there! Internet? I forgot all about you. How's it been hanging? Up to the same old tricks?

Yeah, me too.

Here's another little song. I've got lots just sitting around, so... whatever.

Slaughterhouse - SkruntSkrunt remix

Check it out.
SkruntSkrunt auto generates soundtrack for Slaughterhouse.

Slaughterhouse Scraps

Songs leftover from Slaughterhouse.
These were songs meant to go on the Slaughterhouse album, in between all the unsong tracks. They are... I don't know what. Songs. Made up with other people's music.
This is what happens when I try to make a "rock" album and realize I can't play instruments.

Included for download are lyrics and album art. Also included, lyrics to a song I may never record, since it requires original music. You know, just in case anybody wants to take a shot at it themselves.

Babie Fangs - Spooky Little Girls

So, I don't know. This is just too awesome for me not to share.
So, like, Merry May Christmas.

Haunted Love

Okay, so... this is a song I made a few years ago. It was actually the first song made for Frozen Upside-Down Mocking Bird. But I just forgot to include it when I was working on the song order. So I uploaded it to the Meat Force Myspace (hey guys, remember Myspace?) where it sat for a while. Just languished. Then I decided to use it as the first song for a new album I was slowly working on. Well, now I've got about 8 other songs, maybe, and listening to them I realized... this song just doesn't fit at all. So I'm cutting it. But I did trim a bit in the middle and make this slightly shorter version, so I figured I'd just slap it up here and finally put it to rest.
For the curious, artists remixed into this song are Goldfrapp (I was on a big Goldfrapp kick when I made it), Animal Collective, and Kammerflimmer Kollektief.

Does that make me cool now?

Slaughterhouse

So I went and made this video for a series of songs entitled Slaughterhouse. Eventually I will put it out as a digital album, featuring a few other pretty shitty songs. But for now you can just enjoy this stuff.

And you can download it, as well as the five songs used to make up the audio track.

RDP Recordings - March 2012

Since I'm at it, have you heard the RDP recordings for March?

Well, you might enjoy it. And you might enjoy a whole bunch of other stuff over on their blog.

Kip Grey - Tits of an Angel

Okay, here's a little video. From the internet. An old pal of mine who is a very romantic guy.

Uh, so this one comes with a picture or something. I guess.

Castle In The Sky (Demo)

I paired this beat with this little piano bit, and threw some tape tone on top. I have been listening to it over and over for days, not knowing what to do with it. Everything I try to add just makes it less great. Here it is presented with a little clip on top, and some wind sounds.

I'll probably try it with some other stuff yet...

bandband - 3rd Try

Mmmm... yeah...
Found this on my hard drive. It got a bit harder afterwards. No, that's gross.

Bad Taste Music Exchange

So I was reading the internet, as I often do, and found this fella doing tutorials on data bending. It was pretty interesting stuff. Then he gets to the wav files and turns out he did a pretty nifty album of this stuff circa 1999.

Well, I figured I'd ought to show you fine folks.

I haven't perused the rest of the blog yet, but it might be of interest, too. Looks like there is a swell "radio" program, and some albums, and some live shows. All sorts of things that are just up your alley! Presumably.

Bass Off - No Effects#03

Is this actually Bass Off? Or would this be the Okay By Average Drummer band? I don't know, we're pretty shit by average, actually.
This was done years back. I was trying to figure out a drum track for a song. Of course, I didn't own any drums, so I figured I'd just wail on whatever I had around. Well, my roommate came in, to find out what I was doing and he decided to join in. This is what came of that.

Honestly? I'd love to do a contest with this. Well, not even a contest. Just an event. Of remixes. Everybody remix this into some sweet beats or... into whatever. But I don't have enough regular readers (that I know about) for that. Still, if anybody DOES remix this, send it along!
I'd love to hear it and live to post it.

Ching

Merry April Fool's Day. I don't have anything to trick you with because, seriously, who cares?
Um, but, I made this thing. With an iPad. While I was half asleep. It is really easy to drone out when a beat is happening, and next thing you know it is an hour later and you have been listening to basically the same three second clip over and over and over and over...

Hark Dorse

Golly, wotta month. Look at all those updates. How exciting.
So, sometimes I write some lyrics, then I try to put them to music. That's when I remember, I can't play music. It never sounds like how I want. So then I just make a completely different song instead.

Neacail Campbell - Messin' about

Hey there fellow music listeners to. Up da blog. No, I don't know what that means.
Listen, I am trying to make a tape here. I'm busy. Is it recording loud enough? I don't know. There's a lot of quiet parts. It's hard to tell.
But who cares? Hey, do you want to hear a song by Neacail Campbell?
Yeah, you do, it's great. It's totally from a late '90s horror movie. But, you know, a good one.

Am I Nightmare?

What am I doing here? What is going on? Where did I wake up into? Have you seen it?

Jiménez - Gutter

Name change, I think, but it's the same old Ferris we know and love.
Just on sound cloud now. Wait, how do I link this mumbo jumbo?

I Want To Cut Off My Arms And My Legs

In an unprecedented turn of events, there are two posts today! Actually, it might have been done before, but who cares? I certainly don't. In fact, when I made this I didn't care about anything, because I was all depressed.

Hey, quick question... Should I upload the bandcamp files, as well as the mp3s? Or would that ruin the magic? Because I could do it. I've wanted to see lots of people's work files, when I listen to digitally made music. It's a curious thing.

Stephen Ferris - trackandfield

I ain't heard what time it's at? March!? Well, shit.

Wednesday, February 29, 2012

Steve Ferris - Drop that martian ass on the dance floor_untitled13

It's the weirdest of days, February the 29th. Only comes once every four years, like the Olympics or my ejaculate. In honour of this here is a weird track by a weird dude.

Steven Ferris - KNOWS5/MPS69

The Wedding

So I was making a little ditty for a Ramshackle Day compilation. Just trying things out, as I am apt to do.
I was using this damaged, warped wedding ceremony reel I had processed at my old job and thought, wouldn't it be some kind of social commentary to put that to sounds of pornography?
This one gal I like, Lorelei Lee, makes some pretty funny noises. All waverly. I dig them. So I took a bunch of clips and tried to edit out her noises, without getting the rest of that stuff in there... Not that it really mattered because, hello filter city. Just toss a ton of reverb on that shit and who knows what is going on?
Then, you know, just fiddled about with it. EQ'd a bit, though I could do more... I'm not so great at that part, I'll admit. Messed with this and that. Arranged. Overlapped. Wrapped everything into a five minute package.

I don't know if I will use it for the comp though. Maybe I will just leave it here.

pink pink stink nice drink

Another year has come and gone, in my life and the world's. I don't feel like working on real music so I whip up a little dancey dance. Inspired by paintings of gorillas. To clarify, the paintings of gorillas, or rather, the paintings gorillas have done.
