Colossal Cave Adventure

Hi, friends. How are you? So I took home this midi keyboard and have been fooling around with it a bit. I had also been wanting to make a song with lines from the game Colossal Cave Adventure for a bit. So, put the two together and what have you got?
This. This is what you have got.

Chill

So, the last song didn't use any garageband loops. I've played with it before, actually. It's quite fun. You just play a part, make a new instrument, go back and play another part over top of that, etc etc until presto change-o, you've a song! Like magic!
You should try it. You DO have garageband right? You use a mac? Oh, a PC? Well, I don't know what to tell you. Sorry.

Baby's Day Out

What? Another song? (And this one doesn't even have any Garageband loops in it...) I thought this was over.

Ramshackle Day Parade

So, if anybody is reading this...
You probably aren't.
But if you are, then guess what. There is a blog for Ramshackle Day Parade. Just what the hell am I talking about, you ask? Glad you did...

Ramshackle Day Parade is a monthly gathering of offbeat music. The sort of stuff that people aren't sure how to categorize. Sometimes they just call it noise, but a lot of it really doesn't seem to fit what is generally described as such. Really, who gives a crap?

It's a relaxed community get together of chums mostly. With weird sounds thrown in the mix. And it's great.

Started way back in the year a couple ago in the month of I can't remember, it left us for a short while and was sorely missed. But, over the summer, it has returned. With a vengeance. It is now hosted every 22nd at Bohemia, and it's doing just fine. Just fine indeed. The open mic section even came back, which was really a favourite of mine.

There's also a BLOG going now, that I guess is going to feature album reviews and whatnot as well, so that's always good. Who knows? Maybe it will show Weird Canada a thing or two about being, you know, actually weird. Oh, I kid, I kid. I don't really read blogs anyhow, so what do I know?

Anyhow, blah blah blah, this is getting totally boring, I think. Just go over there already.

Ball Oni

Here's one that was sitting around. Besides this I can't say I know how much more will happen. A shame. The experiment never drew real breath, but I liked some of the things that came out of it anyhow. Hopefully it will stick around for future generations to peruse. I'll listen to it, in any event.

Bios And Guests

Oh, right, and because I know I always forget about this blog and don't end up posting, here's another one I had sitting around from forever ago.

I don't know what it is all about.

Actually Rap

So I had this little beat to rap to, but then I was like "What the hell? Add more crap to it."
Then I did.

This is that crap.

Texas Chainsaws

I know, I know. Never posting in the blog. Boo hoo. For shame.
Well I don't make those garageband songs anymore, you know? I was working on real songs. Of course, even then sometimes those don't get finished. Sometimes the idea goes nowhere. Take this song, for example... I had these neat little banjo parts. The awesome opening from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I thought, yeah these fit. This is a good start for something. But then... ehhhh... I don't know where to take it. But, instead of just deleting it, I thought why not show the fine folks?

So here it is. The beginning of a song that will never be finished.

Don't ask me the deal with these players now, by the way. I just copy and past them. Something is funky with their code these days.

Max Uhlich - Birth Better Than Death.

Yo, yo, yo homeslices.
Uh, what?
Anyhow, so Max sent me a new song... a while ago. Sorry. Here it is already!

Hmm... I wonder what happened to internet archives' player.

HandHeld Records

http://www.handheldrecords.ca/

This is where that show I previously mentioned would be if Andy got around to updating the site. But he's busy right now, you know? In the mean time there is some other stuff up there, and you may or may not enjoy it but give it a shot anyhow.

Digits - Hold It Close, Also A Show!

Oh my! It's been so long. Where have you been?
I am a terrible blogger, I know. That is why I don't write song reviews or something. I just forget what I am doing all the time. But I do like musics so why not post some right?

Here is a fella I met some time ago... He is a decent guy. His music is just lovely. It's got some poppy beats and stuff and then... well, just listen to it. That's way better than somebody telling you about it.

Okay, so, there is that. Speaking of musics, I have been going to a wealth of shows this summer. Quite enjoyable. My favourites are the low key ones. I mean, I like dancing and whatnot, but I really like just relaxing, hanging out with a few good folks. Um, but, I dunno if they have music on the internet for me to show you. Oh, how sad. I weep now.

But I was at a show last night that was quite nice. Max Uhlich (I've posted a song by him before) played a fantastic little bit. Dennis Rodman (not that one) sang with the voice of an angel. 1000 Donalds now Huckleberry... well actually I missed that part but the sound check was quite nice. Sorry Donald!

And then Bonspiels. Formed from G*A*S*M (They've also showed up here) and Crooked Furrows or whatever, with their roots in Gold Rush and love, they are becoming a fabulous little band. Rocking out, not quite with their cocks out, but you can see the quivering members are just waiting for their time to shine. Oh, gross.

Anyhow, with all this going on I haven't had time to make a billion garageband songs a day. So... sorry. Besides, this blog is really suppose to be about everybody else.

Max Uhlich - Milk Status Quo

What do you mean you don't know Max!? Oh, wait, you do. Well, he's great. He does it all. All of it. And, he's done it again. Some kind of I don't know what. Pursuing guitars and balloon party vocals combine to bring you delight.

Healing Crystal - You Are Trembling

So I just got this song in the mail today. It is fantastic. You can just listen to it and chill out and relax. No problem. You will have no problems.
I am picturing Vangelis' Blade Runner work. Lovely stuff. It's apparently from the long lost, '80s, new age supergroup, Healing Crystal. Good luck trying to find anything else. I hear it was all lost in the big LSD fire of 1968.

Dog Diarrhea Dog

F...f..f..f..FUDGE! People keep telling me they will send me stuff for this blog but they don't. And I'm like, "I won't bother making anything then." So it never updates! Also I forget about it!
I'm sorry to the... well if anybody still reads it I am sorry to them. If nobody does then I'm not sorry!

Sleepy Town

Yo bro! What choo know?! Ughhhhh....
Oh hi. How's it going? This song is a bit different, since I actually just played it. There's no garageband loops. It's just a couple of things over top of each other... One of them being a sound effects track. Nature sounds! Played live! Good gosh!

leftoverscraps

Golly, I haven't been updatin' a lot, have I? Well, I've been busy right? Something... I was working on a new album for a while, but it needs a couple more songs and I don't feel like doing them right now. When it comes out though... gosh. I'll like it, at least. Love it maybe. Who knows? I can be terribly narcissistic sometimes, which is funny if you know me.

Um... this one though? It's not so good. Just things I did for kicks. A poem I wrote based on a song. I decided I wouldn't use this stuff for anything good but still made a rad cover for it.

I had it up on Bandcamp, but actually I don't want to sully Meat Force's actual releases with this retarded garbage. So instead I will put it up at INTERNET ARCHIVE. That's where I put up everything else. Why not?

Grease Canyon - Chube

Oh wow. Neglect. I have been neglecting this blog. Really, I just haven't been musically inclined as of late, and so didn't have anything to upload. Little did I know...
SOMEBODY who ISN'T ME checks the blog. And that somebody wanted to submit a song. I got an email about it a month ago but didn't think to check. Oh no, because guess what... it's pretty darn swell. Do you fucking hear me?

Suck Glue

Oh man. Moving. What a stressful time, right guys? Sure it is. I just did it, so I know! Don't dispute!
In honor of moving I have made a little song, inspired by true events. I am not saying it is good, but it is something.

Creeping Wounds

This one is a bit noisier than what has been happening most of the time. Rumble rumble rumble. Still, it was made via garageband, with garageband enabled sound effects. I don't think I even really filtered them. This is straight up, brah. See this? Anyone can do this.

Anyone.

You should try. Email it to me. meat.force at gmail dot com.
I'll put up anything.

Bass Off - First Record

Minimalist. Low fi. Squeeling, droning, rocking, bassing noise.
Bass Off came to us in a drunken dream. It's legend mentioned in a previous post.
This was the very first jam, and probably still the best. With backup drummer, spoon rattling in bowl, we were taken to heights never again seen by mortal man.

Mir Father

This song can and should be played on a constant loop forever until the end of time. Let it seep into your brain and just follow the urgings that I know your body feels.

Don't Rain, My Parade

Hey, listen up! Don't tell me how to live, just sit and putter! Life's candy and the sun's a ball of butter!!

DON'T RAIN ON MY FUCKING PARADE MOTHER FUCKER!

Bass Off - Eternity

Today we're going to do things a little bit different.

Today is the epic tale of a man from the centre of the earth and a man who fell from the clouds. They are forever locked in epic struggle here on earth; One fights for Satan, the other for God.
Now a major motion picture, played by dynamic duo John Travolta and Nicholas Cage.

Miou Miou

Just so we are clear on the facts, most of these songs are made with garageband loops. This is the reason I only put them on a blog instead of keeping them for real releases. They are made quickly and easily. Some people may have been confused.
That being said, they are actually MORE legal to share with people than most of my other music which is made with found sound and stolen songs and whatnot. But legality is for chumps. Art is a shared experience, and music is a type of art. Besides, it's not like anybody would pay for this junk.

Now open your heart and let love in.

The Person I Hate Most Is Me

Hey now... don't get all down on yourself. Buck up, kiddo. Things'll be okay in the end. Well, no, in the end you will just be dead, but whatever. At least you can throw a sweet party. You'll have to be there in spirit.

Traumatic Insemination

Sometimes it just isn't that fun, you know? Sometimes it is a lot of work. Sometimes you basically have to stab them. It's pretty sick, but it's gotta be done. Of course, she shouldn't have dressed like a slut.

333

Oh gosh, what a month. The times they are a changing. A little bit. I mean, if you look really really hard. If you don't look that hard then you probably don't give a shit anyhow. amirite?

Spiricom

Hello February. You are the worst. Ever. January is pretty bad, yes, but you... you are worse. Fuck you. I hope you rot.

Creature From Planet Hex

In an amazing double post!
Imagine how impressive this would be if anybody had actually played any drums for it. Golly!

Divests The

I don't know. What is this? Something.
Like a sports theme that wants to get down?

Dila Uchala Jata Hai

Do you like the Electric Company?
How about that 12 Pinball song from Sesame Street?
I like both of them.

Kip Grey - Soviet Epic

So some years ago I was involved in webcomics. They are like your local news paper comic strip but funny and on the internet. Just kidding, a lot are not funny also. It was a fascinating medium though. Being on the internet you had an infinite canvas, not to mention a real lack of copyright (which I am a big proponent for if you aren't just stealing stuff and claiming it as your own) so you could do all sorts of crazy collage work.
There were lots of other great things about it, but here's one that really stood out for me. The ability to not simply work with static comics. Being that it was on the internet you could use a number of programs to produce your work. I, often, used Macromedia's Flash (now owned by Adobe). The program allowed me to animate certain parts of a comic, or the entire thing. I once used it to depict time travel, causing the characters to go back to the beginning of a strip and interact with their past selves.
And, eventually, people began doing little cartoon shorts instead of comics. They got pretty popular, in fact. I had an idea for one of my own, but I won't give it away, this story is already way too long. Nobody is reading!

Let me just say, this is the theme to that never produced cartoon, made by a friend in the webcomics community, Kip Grey:

GAZM - Like Your Mother (Demo)

Well you know how I wanted to add other music? Well I will do it.
This is an early demo of Like Your Mother by G*A*Z*M, a hot new group starting up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Recorded on an iPhone. In my basement.
Formed from the ashes of Gold Rush, G*A*Z*M takes the high impact energy of a high impact energetic band you like and merges it with the cool smooth feelings of that cool smooth feeling band you like.

Here is the song:

Koee Baat Nuhee

So I am sitting here in this room and Owen is sitting here and he is playing himself playing on a bass on his iPhone. And he is thinking to himself, "Self, I think I would like to send this to Joe's computer and thus have it on the internet." But he thinks out loud, you see, and I overhear him. I am perfectly okay with this. And I will do this. But not right this second.

Right this second is another garageband thing. For you.

I notice I have not been posting the links to these things as actual websites. I had really ought to so you can download it and then you can whatever I don't care. So here you go.
Furthermore, if you go there and search "Meat Force" you are sure to find all the rest of the stuff I have posted.

Dark Face Blank

Happy New Years. Right? I think so.
But now back to regular life. Where's the fun? Heck, I don't know.
I've never been much for fun.

Here's another song though:
